Altered DVD Case / Coloring Case Tutorial

recycle dvd case

Hi all, Today i am sharing an altered project which i came across while browsing you tube and thought it would make a perfect handmade gift for kids. I altered an empty DVD case into coloring case. I started it by removing the part that hold the DVD. I have used a utility knife to remove the circle.

dvd case in to coloring case

Place the foam in between the clear sheet and cut out the raised DVD circle to make it flat. Stick a black card stock on the back to cover the hole.

Cut a thin cardboard to fit inside the DVD case and cover the cardboard using the fabric. I used a cereal box for cardboard.

Handmade gift ideas

Cut out another piece of fabric for the pocket and make a fold. Lay the fabric cardboard backside up and glue it down.

dvd case to coloring case

Adhere fabric covered cardboard to  right side of the DVD case. Insert some white card stock on the left side. Attach the pattern paper to cover the front. I used Shimmer Flocked Paper from Colorbok.

I have inserted some coloring pages and white card stock for drawing. I filled the pocket with new color pencils. Hope you liked it.
